Decorators Boston Lincolnshire
A large kitchen and ‘man cave’ extension in a small village on the outskirts of Boston.
The oak beams where given a through sand, using a dust free sanding system. Building regulations stated that the beams could not be coated in any oil or spirit coating to “prevent fire spread”. After a little research I used Kiva 10 by tikkurila. An excellent product that has sealed the oak to prevent ‘silvering’ but keeps the natural oak intact. I also used this product on the oak doors.
All the new plaster was ‘mist coated’ with a thinned contract matt emulsion. All the ceilings where finished with two coats of brilliant white matt emulsion.
I applied one coat of Crown Clean Extreme to the walls, at this point I had to leave the job for a whilst a new oak floor was fitted. Once fitted new softwood skirting boards and architraves where installed and so I was ready to finish. All the walls where refilled and the woodwork caulked. I applied the finished coat to the walls, the colour is Farrow & Ball ‘Blackened’.
All new woodwork, where knotted, primed and finished in Farrow & Ball whitsons white.

In the ‘Man-cave’ part of the extension, I was asked to install a light track for some LED lighting, the rooms only source of artificial light. I must admit I had never done before, but it went up very easily. Very similar to putting up coving. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of the finished lighting.
